The Hunger Games - Suzanne Collins Wow. Wow, wow, wow and did I mention...WOW!

This is seriously one of the most engaging books I have read in a long time. It hooked me from page one and didn't let me go. I felt so emotionally engaged, which is all thanks to Collins' masterfully crafted writing and her complex main character, Katniss, from whose eyes we see through during the course of the book.

The writing is brilliant, the story is intriguing and the main character, Katniss, is unforgetable. In a market overrun by weak, enfeebled female "heroines", Katniss stands out by not simply being "spunky", but by being completely believably human. Being inside her head as she second guesses and analyzes each action and reaction is a ride in and of itself. You feel as if you are in the pulse of her very heartbeat. She comes alive and so does the danger she faces. Utterly gripping. I couldn't put this book down. At one point it even had me literally sobbing on my couch. Any author that can stir that powerful of a reaction in me has my respect.

This book is a must read. I can't wait to start reading "Catching Fire"!
