This was just what I was lookig for - lighthearted, cute and whimsical. It reminded me alot of A Series of Unfortunate Events, and not just because it featured the same illustrator, but the tone and Voice was very similar. Perhaps a little too similar. In a way, I almost felt like the author was trying a little too hard to write like Lemony Snickett. But it is something I can look past because it was a fun story and I enjoyed reading it (and I happen to be a fan of A Series of Unfortunate Events anyway).
The setting and characters are all very colorful and imaginative. It full of whimiscal nonsense, while still being cohorent and clever. The story flows well and has a good pacing. Up until the end. I feel like the end drags a bit. It seems like the author was struggling with placing her final parting thoughts to the reader and thus strung it out a bit too long. But while the end could have been stronger, the story was enjoyable enough to forgive such a trival misstep.
Overall, it was a good read and I would reccomend it to anyone who needs a little nonsense in their life.
