This was a very cute book. The thing I enjoyed the most was how unpredicatble it was. Most of these types of stories are quite formulatic, but Hale really breaks the mold with this one.Furthermore, Miri is a strong role model for young women. She's a good friend and devoted to learning and making life better for her home. Many of my problem with strong female main characters means a lack of feminitity which I think gives youn girls the wrong message that you can't be girly and strong at the same time. Mirri is a perfect example of a girl who is both feminine and strong. A great read for young girls.
