I really love Blake's writing. I love her characters, the setting and the story. It's a solid concept and the main character is very believable and the story is engaging and interesting. Having read the first book, I was anticipating the sequel. When I finally started on this one, I was immediately hooked all over again and happy to be reunited with the cast of characters I had come to know and love.
The first 75% of the book is amazing. The pacing is great. There's internal and externmal turmoil and tension, all building up to the climax. But my problem comes with the climax. For me, the end felt a bit rushed and somehow anti-climatic. I don't know exactly why. I can't place my finger on it. There'e plenty of action, but perhaps i's becaus ethe action is, in many ways, a bit surreal and cerebral. It wraps up so quickly and I wasn't entirely staisfied with the ending.
Is this the second in a triology? Or is this the end of the story? I really don't know, but I wish I did. I am hoping that this is the second in a triology, but I don't know where it will go from here if it is.
I still think it was a good story, but I wish the ending had just been a tad stronger and more impacting. I really don't know what I was looking for, though, so forgive my lack of eloquence in this review.
